What We Do At CommuniCare...
CommuniCare is unique in that it does many things in a very
cost effective manner. We:
- Coordinate the human resources and other administrative
overhead of the Juvenile
Assessment Center, leaving Program Direction and Management to the actual
Program Director and Staff
- Administer the Youth
Leadership Development program (an asset-based Youth Leadership Development
initiative) and "T-MAC" (Teens Making a Change)
- Coordinate all Juvenile Crime
Prevention
Programs via contract with the County of Cumberland for improved program
development, collaboration, accountability and the prevention of juvenile
delinquency
- Provide court-focused adolescent substance abuse
treatment services via the M.A.J.O.R.S. program (Managing Access to Juvenile
Offenders, Resources and Substances -- a NC Division of MH/DD/SAS and NC
DJJDP collaborating treatment program)
- Provide program
evaluation, program development and quality improvement services, which includes the provision of
these services with many local
nonprofits and churches
- Affiliate with other community capacity-building efforts
through partnerships with such agencies/groups as the United Way,
Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, Partnership for Children, Cumberland
County Schools, faith-based organizations, etc.
- Volunteer and continue to promote the Neighborhood Guardian Program, a collaborative
child abuse prevention initiative
- Support the C.A.R.E.S. substance abuse prevention
coalition, providing support for the Coalition for Awareness, Resources, and Education of
Substances -- to combat substance abuse in Cumberland County
- Provide Selective and Indicated substance abuse
prevention services throughout the county under contract from the mental
health center
- Manage the Intensive Juvenile Justice Services Network (a
community commitment program) in partnership with the North Carolina Dept.
of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Mental Health, CC Schools,
etc.
- Manage the Cumberland Gang Prevention Partnership - an
interagency partnership designed to reduce youth violence and gang
involvement throughout Cumberland County
We do all of this using only a
small administrative
staff; this allows much needed program resources to go directly into services,
and not to administrative costs. The corporation has skillful employees that
know how to develop, coordinate, evaluate and help improve human services
programs.
Organizational assessments, quality assurance and quality improvement
are key employee skills.
